Hey! I'm Amellia (more commonly known as Mellie). I'm 28 years old, obsessed with food and family, wife to an airline pilot and mom to an Australian cattle dog named Kacey (after Kacey Musgraves) and a rescue cat named Neptune, aka Big Tuna. I make cakes for a living and music for fun. My husband and I love to travel, hike, camp, eat, and experience all the beauty that this big ol' beautiful world of ours has to offer. I decided to focus my professional efforts on my own personal business because the schedule that comes with traditional food industry jobs wasn't allowing us to do so many of these things.
So here we are!
I have spent all of my young adult life working in restaurants and bakeries around Michigan alongside some incredibly talented cooks and pastry chefs. I constantly strive to expand my knowledge of all edible things that are both beautiful and delicious.

My first intention is to rid you of the idea that cake has to be traditional or boring in anyway. Tell me you're "not a cake person" and I promise I'll change your mind. I believe that flavor should always come first and should be complemented by aesthetics. I've taken the time to create seasonal menus full of unique and nontraditional cake flavors and fillings. All of my cakes are covered in buttercream or ganache and I adore using fresh flowers and gold leaf for decor. I will work with you to create a custom design that will surely impress you and your guests.
With the help and support of my incredible family and friends, Amellia's Cakery has grown to become a very special and important part of my life. Taking part in some of the most important milestone events in your lives is incredibly rewarding and addicting.
I'm a firm believer that life should be full of events that call for cake!
